Jeb started out life simple enough. He and his family lived as farmhands, taking care of the ranch owned by one, Winchell Tolliver Wang. Wang was a Doctor, an Alliance born and bred, who worked on Shadow for humanitarian reasons (help bring the common folk to see the light, as it were.) Though he supported Unification when the War broke out, he still made such an effort to respect the beliefs of other sides, and to treat all who needed treating, that he was tolerated, and even protected to a certain degree.

Wang was convinced, however, that Unification was for the best: Until the destruction of Shadow. He begged and pleaded and tried to use his connections to prevent the Alliance from making “an example” of the planet, but it was to no avail. The planet was destroyed, killing Wang’s wife and only son. Jeb lost his family, and together, the two managed to barely escape in a small transport shuttle.


Wang did the right thing, and adopted Jeb as his own. He raised the boy right, made sure he had a proper gentleman’s training. But the massacre on Shadow just sort of broke something inside the man. His ideals were crushed on that day, and he just sort of drifted through, day in and day out. As time went on, however, he began to speak out, more and more, against the injustices and the cruelty of certain Alliance factions against the Outer Worlds. At first, the Alliance Government tolerated Wang’s dissent, but once day, his voice grew too loud, and he met with a tragic accident. To add insult to injury, a convenient scandal undertaken by the Government gave them the in to sieze most of Wangs considerable assets, leaving Jeb a penniless aristocrat. Quick with a word, and even quicker with a gun, Jeb sought out to earn a fortune anew. Although he doesn’t speak very loudly about it, he burns with resentment against the Alliance, and seeks opportunities to give them a black eye.
